“Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother.” -Winston 1984
who are we
Dirty Water is a stop motion animation created by a student as an attempt to communicate with her fellow peers and even those she would not call her peers, that still fall into the unfortunate category of the ever dreaded teenager. Unless they were in her class, she struggled to find youths who had read or remembered reading the book 1984 by George Orwell and yet she wanted to express and share the themes and higher order ideas with her comrades all the same.
Not much can be said for the typical, non-human a 'teenager' is, but luckily for her, this stereotype of brainless lumps that make up the young adults of earth doesn't exist anywhere accept for in the minds of the older generations.
Being a young person who has to attend a high school, who hasn't had to pay bills, hasn't had to decide when to quit a job, hasn't sacrificed their well being for a toxic relationship that is truly consequential, hasn't driven a car for which they've paid out of their own income (all speaking in regards to the majority) does not un-entitle them to their humanity or their right to be known as citizens of our planet.
